All-weather form could prove key in the Northumberland Plate - and these 33-1 shots should not be underestimated

A full field of 20 has been declared for every Northumberland Plate (3.15) since the race was switched to the all-weather in 2016.

Narrowing the field down to those with form on synthetics has been a good pointer to success, with seven of the nine winners having already won on the all-weather, while the other two had finished second in their previous start on sand.

Ante-post favourite for Saturday's running, Who’s Glen, has had the majority of his runs on the all-weather and produced a career-best Racing Post Rating when second in a race run in a good time at Kempton on his reappearance in March.
