Urawa Red Diamonds vs Monterrey predictions

Monterrey take on Urawa Red Diamonds at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena and the Mexican side know that three points are a must in California. 

There are a whole host of permutations in terms of qualification from Group E of the Club World Cup, but Monterrey know that only a victory will be enough to see them through to the knockout stage of the competition and Domenec Torrent’s men should get the better of Urawa Red Diamonds.

Monterrey played pretty well to hold Inter to a 1-1 draw in the opening fixture, and while the Nerazzurri had the better of that tie, Rayados registered 11 efforts on goals and it wasn’t one-way traffic. 

The performance level of Torrent’s men dropped in their 0-0 stalemate with River Plate, but the Argentinians are a good team and Monterrey were solid enough to keep them at bay. 

Urawa Red Diamonds have conceded five goals in their two Club World Cup matches and they allowed Inter 26 shots and 82 per cent possession last time out. 

The Reds know their run in this competition will end at the group stage and the fight may have left Maciej Skorza’s men.
