Key trends
Other factors
All of the last ten winners had scored last time out. The last maiden to succeed was Samitar in 2011.
Four were once-raced winners.
Six winners were drawn 13 or higher, but the last four winners were drawn in single-figures.
FAIRY GODMOTHER became the first winning Albany favourite in five years. Aidan O’Brien’s filly arrived on the back of two runs at Naas, finishing second on her debut in April before turning the tables with the winner the following month. The daughter of Night Of Thunder was sent off a 15-8 shot and travelled notably well through the 6f contest. It was not plain sailing, though, as she was denied a clear run when trying to challenge and had to finish strongly to beat Simmering by three quarters of a length. She did well to win in the circumstances and the effort could definitely be marked up.
