Too Darn Hot filly who cost £170,000 as a yearling; both starts on good to firm ground; close second over 5f at Ascot, then made all to beat Tahalel in clearcut style over 6f at Haydock; major contender.

Form figures of 431 reflect her steady improvement, making all and well on top at Brighton (6f, good) most recently; however, she faces a much stiffer task in this field.

Sands Of Mali filly; looks well equipped for this assignment, having gained her easy win at the Curragh (6f, good) in a similarly big field; changed ownership since; potentially Group class and has possibilities.

Proved game but prevailed only narrowly at Listowel (extended 6f, good to yielding) and didn't exactly look a Group filly in the making, which is reflected by the bare figures on this step up in class.

Comfortably beaten by Fitzella at Haydock (6f, good to firm; started favourite) but showed promise and looks the type to do much better, being a Blue Point filly who cost 500,000euros as a yearling.

100,000euros yearling purchase; by Ten Sovereigns; both starts over 6f on good ground at the Curragh, making all for 1l win latest; connections landed this prize in 2023; interesting with further progress likely.

A'Ali filly; posted a solid-looking second, splitting Ballydoyle runners, under 3lb claimer at Navan (5f, good) while shaping as if she'll relish this extra furlong; Colin Keane takes over; sold for £225,000 on Monday; could go well.

RACING POST TIP

Ipanema Queen
As usual in a Royal Ascot 2yo race, plenty of the runners bring major potential. The suggestion is IPANEMA QUEEN who, despite being "only 75%" ready according to her trainer's assistant, proved clear best in a big field at the Curragh and seems open to any amount of progress. Second choice is Fitzella, the only contender who already has course form. Venetian Sun (third choice) is an interesting prospect for her notable connections, while closely matched Signora and Green Sense bring Group form and Gold Digger is a significant breeze-up purchase who could prove up to this level. Not many of the others can be comfortably ruled out.

What happened in the Albany Stakes last year?

down

FAIRY GODMOTHER became the first winning Albany favourite in five years. Aidan O’Brien’s filly arrived on the back of two runs at Naas, finishing second on her debut in April before turning the tables with the winner the following month. The daughter of Night Of Thunder was sent off a 15-8 shot and travelled notably well through the 6f contest. It was not plain sailing, though, as she was denied a clear run when trying to challenge and had to finish strongly to beat Simmering by three quarters of a length. She did well to win in the circumstances and the effort could definitely be marked up.
