Dual Group 3 winner (2020 and 2024) but, in a long career, he's yet to crack it at higher levels; last five wins were on softer than good and although he went down by just a neck to Anmaat on good to firm at Haydock last August, that rival was returning from a long absence and has twice run much better since; ran creditably (made most) on the first of two races this term but has never shone at this meeting and this is a tough task.

Won the 1m2f Listed Wolferton at this meeting in 2023; mixed form last autumn in Australia, before registering Listed and Group 3 wins on the British AW this winter for his new stable; close, keeping-on fourth of seven in Sandown Group 3 (1m2f, good; unraced on firmer) in April was another good effort but he needs markedly better to upset the best of today's rivals.

7yo who's won two of his three attempts at Group 1; swooped to overcome trouble in running in the Champion Stakes over C&D (soft) last October and he was travelling much the better when he headed Los Angeles just inside the final 1f in Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh (10.5f, officially good) last month, only to lose out in the last ten strides; three of his wins at lower levels were on good to firm; should be primed to throw down a telling late bid.

His last 11 races have been Group 1, winning one at Meydan (1m1f Dubai Turf) in March 2024; less competitive than usual in his three starts this January-April but never-nearer sixth of 11 back in the Dubai Turf last time was respectable; twice runner-up in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes over the straight 1m here on soft ground, plus third last year in the Sussex at Goodwood on good to firm, but he needs to show something new if he's to win this, as he's never been beyond 9.5f.

2023 was his heyday, when winning the St Leger and fifth in the Arc; career has taken some disappointing turns since last autumn and he could be set for a front-running role at a big price today, as on his last two starts.

2024 Irish Derby winner and Arc third at 1m4f; four of his last five races have been at about 1m2f, though, notably when a close fourth in Irish Champion last September and when having to pull out all the stops at the Curragh in his two outings this season, all on good ground (acts on good to firm); latest was the 10.5f Group 1 Tattersalls Gold Cup in which he battled back to deny Anmaat, but it's a protracted struggle rather than a rapier thrust which is likely to see him to best effect and he might just be vulnerable.

Fifth in 1m Coronation Stakes here last year; peak 3yo effort when beaten a neck in Group 1 Nassau at Goodwood (1m2f, good to firm) in August but even that was put firmly in the shade when she hammered her rivals for a 12l win in Group 2 at York (1m2f, good to firm) five weeks ago; following that, she could conceivably prove a handful against the boys in this field as well.

French-trained 4yo who won two Listed races last term but it's this year that he's really found his stride, winning over 1m2f in a Group 3 and Group 2 on first two outings, and Horizon Dore (third in this race last year) could not lay a glove on him in the latter on good ground (unraced on good to firm); powerful challenge took him to within a neck of victory in the Group 1 Ganay on latest outing and he's a serious player.

Unraced at two but unbeaten in four starts last term, culminating in Group 3 at Longchamp (1m2f, soft; debut was on good to firm) where he quickened to the front and then looked as if he had more in the tank; Group 3 at Sandown (1m2f, good) three weeks ago saw him defeated for the first time but it was a highly positive reappearance in all other respects, against a serious, race-fit rival who received 3lb; that should have put an edge on him for this first Group 1 assignment and no surprise if he proves up to it.

Continuous making the early running in front of his stablemate Los Angeles may provide the early shape of the race, and they'll surely want to make it a stiff test at the trip, but there are four serious candidates to cut down Los Angeles in the closing stages. See The Fire is one of them, following her revelatory performance at York, while the upwardly mobile pair Map Of Stars (second choice) and Ombudsman can prove that they are a force at this level. It's the C&D Champion Stakes winner ANMAAT, however, who has done most to suggest that he can outspeed his rivals where it matters.

Top globetrotter AUGUSTE RODIN added a sixth top-level win to his CV in the day two feature. The son of Deep Impact won the Derby, Irish Derby and Irish Champion Stakes at three and ended the previous campaign with victory in the Breeders’ Cup Turf. Aidan O’Brien’s star had been beaten on his first two starts of the year, raising doubts about whether he had retained his ability at four, but bounced back to winning ways by beating Zarakem by three quarters of a length. He recorded his joint career-best Racing Post Rating in a race that also featured Inspiral and Alflaila.
