Graeme Rodway's play of the day at Salisbury

Blind Beggar
2.55 Salisbury
1pt win
There are a glut of small-field contests on turf in Britain, with only three of the 20 Flat races on grass attracting double figures.
Two of them come at Carlisle, where the going was on the soft side of good on Tuesday. Such a change in conditions makes it tricky at the Cumbrian course, and it’s better to stick to the tracks where we know the ground will be on the fast side of good, like it has been for the majority of the season.
Conditions should be all right at Salisbury, where the most interesting race there is the 5f handicap (2.55), which is confined to horses aged six and over, and the one to be on is Blind Beggar, who will find this a lot easier than last time.
Blind Beggar was previously seen contesting the ultra-competitive Dash at Epsom and he performed well in the face of a stiff test there. He was beaten only five lengths by winner Jm Jungle, who has been mixing it with King’s Stand victor American Affair this year, and the Epsom form is strong.
The selection was 4lb out of the handicap that day and is now able to race off his correct mark of 80 from the top of the weights in this 0-80 after going down two rungs into a Class 4.
He is 2lb lower than when last successful at Bath last year and this rates a golden opportunity.
